The Petra Museum opened in 2019 beside the visitor centre at the entrance to Petra, built with support from Japan. It holds around 280 objects found in and around the city, including sculpture, pottery, coins and jewellery, arranged to tell the story of the Nabataeans and their kingdom. Entry is free, and it is a good place to start or end a day in Petra, as it sits a few minutes from the gate to the Siq.
