Al-Wu'ayra is a Crusader castle built around 1116, which the Crusaders called Li Vaux Moise, the Valley of Moses. It stands on a rock spur north of the entrance to Petra, cut off by a deep gorge, and came under Ayyubid rule after Salah al-Din's campaigns of the late 1180s. The way in is over a narrow rock bridge across the gorge to a gate, and inside are the remains of walls, towers and cisterns. It lies beside the road from Wadi Musa to Little Petra.
