About Palace Tomb

The Palace Tomb is the largest of the Royal Tombs on the face of Jabal al-Khubtha, and one of the widest facades in Petra. It rises in three storeys of columns and doorways, and its top storey was finished in masonry blocks because the cliff was not tall enough. Its design is thought to copy the front of a Roman palace, and it dates from the 1st century AD. It stands at the north end of the row of Royal Tombs, beside the Corinthian Tomb, looking out over the Colonnaded Street.
