The Columbarium is a chamber cut into the foot of Jabal al-Habis whose walls are lined with rows of small square niches. Its purpose is unknown: the name, from the Latin for a dovecote, reflects one guess, and others suggest the niches held urns or offerings. It lies a few minutes' walk from Qasr al-Bint, on the way up to al-Habis Castle.
