The old mosque of Soko, a village near Gračanica, began as a stone building of the first half of the fifteenth century, probably a fortified residence of the medieval Bosnian nobility below the fortress of Sokol. After the Ottoman conquest in the early sixteenth century it was turned into a mosque, and its imams are recorded from 1533. It is a simple rectangular building with thick rubble-stone walls and arched doors and windows, with a later brick porch and a mihrab added in the south wall. It served as a mosque until 1980, when a new one was built in the village. Since then it has been carefully restored, and with its graveyard it is a national monument, as is the nearby Sokol fortress.
