The Husejnija was built in 1826 by Husein-kapetan Gradaščević, the captain of Gradačac who later led the Bosnian autonomy movement of 1831, and it carries his name. It stands below the fortress on the way to the old bazaar. It is a domed stone mosque with a portico of three small domes and a brick minaret on a stone base, and it is one of the northernmost and last classic domed mosques built in Ottoman Bosnia. The complex includes a library endowed in 1839-40 by the poet and statesman Fadil Pasha Šerifović, an ablution fountain and a small graveyard, and it is a national monument.
