Qasr al-Muwaqqar is the site of an Umayyad palace built east of Amman in the time of Caliph Yazid ibn Abd al-Malik. Among its finds was a carved stone water gauge with a Kufic inscription dated 104 AH, which recorded the depth of the palace's great reservoir. Little of the palace stands today beyond low walls and mounds, but the large reservoir is still there. The site lies by the village of al-Muwaqqar on the road to the other desert palaces.
