The Nymphaeum is a large Roman public fountain built in the late 2nd century AD in the centre of Philadelphia, the city now called Amman. It stood two storeys high, with niches for statues around a great pool fed by the stream that ran through the valley. Its remains stand on Quraysh Street in downtown Amman, a short walk from the Grand Husseini Mosque and the Roman Theatre, and it has been under restoration in recent years.
