The Grand Husseini Mosque is the main mosque of downtown Amman, rebuilt by King Abdullah I in 1924 on the site of the city's early Islamic congregational mosque. Its pink-and-white stone facade and twin minarets face the busy streets of the old market, and it remains the centre of Friday prayers in downtown Amman, a short walk from the Roman Theatre.
