The Turali Bey Masjid, also called the Poljska (Field) Mosque, was founded in 1572 by Gazi Turali Bey and is the oldest and most important Ottoman mosque in Tuzla. It stands in the old town near the central square. It is a classic domed mosque with a portico and stone minaret, and its courtyard holds old graves. Tuzla's name comes from the Turkish word for salt, and the town's salt springs, now used for the Pannonian Lakes, are a short walk away.
