This Ottoman fort stands on a hill above Khulays, an oasis on the old pilgrim road between Makkah and Madinah, where it guarded travellers and the wells of the valley. Its walls and corner towers still stand on the hilltop, though the interior is in ruins and entry is restricted. It overlooks the farms of Khulays, north-east of Jeddah.
