Al-Juhfah is the miqat set by Nabi Muhammad ﷺ for pilgrims coming from Syria, Egypt, North Africa and the lands to the west. In early Islam it was a thriving village on the coastal road, but it later declined and was abandoned, and for centuries pilgrims entered ihram at nearby Rabigh instead. A large new miqat mosque has been built near the old site, about fifteen kilometres from Rabigh, with facilities for washing and changing. Not far from here lies Ghadir Khumm, where the Prophet ﷺ stopped on his return from the Farewell Hajj in 10 AH and addressed the Companions about Sayyiduna Ali.
