Near the mosque of Sayyiduna Hamzah at Uhud stood two strongly built iron water tanks with two doors, put up by Ali Bey, a guard of Sultan Abdülhamid II. They were filled from a pond about four hours' journey from Madinah through a channel like that of Ayn Zubaydah in Makkah, and gave water to the many visitors to the martyrs of Uhud. Ibrahim Rifat Pasha photographed the tanks in the early twentieth century. Their site lies beside Masjid Sayyid al-Shuhada, across from the graves of the martyrs of Uhud.
