About Masjid al-Fash (Prayer Site after Uhud)

Masjid al-Fash stands at the foot of Mount Uhud, in a narrow valley below the slopes where the Muslims regrouped after the battle in 3 AH. According to tradition, Nabi Muhammad ﷺ prayed Zuhr here with his Companions after the fighting, when he and many of them were wounded and exhausted. Only low walls and the outline of the prayer niche of the old mosque survive, and the site is usually reached on foot from the road near the martyrs' graveyard. Small as it is, it helps visitors picture the hours after the battle, when the Prophet ﷺ gathered his Companions and tended to the wounded.
