The Painted House is a rock-cut dining room at the end of Siq al-Barid, Little Petra, whose ceiling keeps some of the very few Nabataean paintings to survive. Painted on plaster in the 1st century AD, they show vines, flowers and birds, with small figures among the branches. They were cleaned and conserved in 2010. A short flight of steps leads up to the room, which is protected by a gate, and the paintings can be seen from the doorway.
