The Muqaddamiyya Madrasa is one of the oldest madrasas of Aleppo, founded in 564 AH (1168) in the time of Nur al-Din Zangi. It was established for the Hanafi school and is named after its founder, the emir Izz al-Din Abd al-Malik al-Muqaddam. The madrasa stands in the western part of the old city near Bab Antakya and is now used as a mosque. The Shu'aybiyya Mosque, the first mosque of Aleppo, and the Bahramiyya Mosque are nearby.
