Khan al-Harir, the silk khan, is an Ottoman caravanserai of old Aleppo built around 1574 for the trade in silk and fine textiles, one of the great commercial khans of the city. In the 1930s it housed the Iranian consulate, and it is widely known in Syria through the novel and television series named after it. The khan stands in the souqs near the Great Umayyad Mosque, with a courtyard surrounded by two storeys of shops and rooms. It is a short walk from Khan al-Sabun and Khan al-Wazir.
