Beit Achiqbash is an eighteenth-century courtyard house in al-Jdeideh, one of the old quarters of Aleppo, built for a merchant family and known for its carved stone, painted woodwork and fine reception rooms. For many years the house served as the Museum of Popular Tradition, showing the costumes, crafts and domestic life of old Aleppo. It stands among the other great houses of al-Jdeideh, such as Beit Ghazaleh and Beit Junblat nearby.
