The Baron Hotel on Baron Street in Aleppo's Aziziyeh district opened in 1911 and is the oldest hotel in Syria. It was run for more than a century by the Mazloumian family, and its guest book holds the names of many famous travellers, archaeologists and writers who stayed here. The hotel has kept the feel of its early years, with its original building and period interiors. It stands in the modern centre of Aleppo, a short walk from Bab al-Faraj, the clock tower and the Aleppo National Museum.
