Bab al-Nasr, the Gate of Victory, is the northern gate of old Aleppo. It was once called Bab al-Yahud and was renamed and rebuilt by the Ayyubid ruler al-Zahir Ghazi, son of Salah al-Din. The gate opens into the old quarters north of the citadel, where the Uthmaniyya Madrasa, the Farafira Khanqah and the shrine of Nasimi stand. It is a busy crossing point between the old city and the newer districts beyond it.
