Matbakh al-Ajami is a vaulted stone hall in old Aleppo, the surviving part of a twelfth-century Zengid palace that was later used as a kitchen, from which it takes its name. It is one of the oldest surviving secular buildings of the city. The hall stands near the Great Umayyad Mosque and has been restored and opened as a heritage venue with an L-shaped entrance passage lined with Ajami painted wood. Khan al-Sabun and the Sahibiyya Mosque are close by.
