About Well of al-Ihn (al-Yusayrah)

This well stood in al-Awali, the farmlands on the southern side of Madinah, in the lands of the Ansari clan of Banu Umayyah ibn Zayd. Nabi Muhammad ﷺ visited them and asked the name of their well. When they told him it was called al-Usayrah, the difficult, he renamed it al-Yusayrah, the easy, and made wudu from it. It later became known as the Well of al-Ihn. The old well no longer flows, but its site is preserved within a small walled area in al-Awali, with an old stone building beside it. Opening times are limited.
