Itban ibn Malik was an Ansari of Banu Salim whose eyesight had grown weak, and when the valley flooded he found it hard to reach the mosque of his people. He asked Nabi Muhammad ﷺ to come and pray in his house so that he could take that spot as his place of prayer. The Prophet ﷺ came with Abu Bakr, prayed where Itban showed him, and stayed to share a meal with the family. The site lies close to Masjid al-Jumu'ah, in the old lands of Banu Salim between Quba and the city. It is remembered as a lovely example of the Prophet's ﷺ care for his Companions and of the honour of having a place of prayer in one's home.
