Quba Fort is a small stone fort on a rise of the lava field south of Madinah, overlooking the district of Quba. It was built between 1334 and 1337 AH (1915 to 1918) by the Ottoman garrison of Madinah as a watch post guarding the southern approach to the city, and was later used as a guard post, with Madinah's Ramadan cannon fired from its terrace for many years. The fort is a compact rectangle of about 15 by 12 metres, built of black lava stone rendered and whitewashed, with three storeys, corner turrets and firing slits around a small central light well. It stands just west of the main Quba road, a short walk from Masjid Quba and Masjid al-Jumu'ah.
