The Well of Aris lay in a garden just west of Quba. Nabi Muhammad ﷺ is reported to have sat at its edge with his legs over the water while Abu Bakr, Umar and Uthman came to join him one after another. It became known as the Well of the Ring because, years later, the silver ring of the Prophet ﷺ, which the caliphs had used as their seal, slipped from Uthman's finger into this well and was never found despite days of searching. The well has dried up and the area around it has been built over, but its site is marked near Masjid Quba and is still pointed out to visitors to the Quba district.
