The Picture Wall runs along the northern and western outer walls of the Lahore Fort for about 450 metres, making it one of the largest murals in the world. It was begun under Jahangir in 1624 and completed under Shah Jahan, and is covered in glazed tile mosaics and painted panels. The panels show elephant fights, polo matches, hunting scenes, angels and geometric and floral patterns. The wall has been conserved in recent years, and it is best seen from the walkway outside the fort's north-western corner, near the Elephant Steps and the Shah Burj gate.
