This site on the east bank of the Jordan River, at Wadi al-Kharrar, is honoured as the place where Nabi Isa was baptised by Nabi Yahya. It is inscribed by UNESCO, and the Ministry of Awqaf lists it among the maqam sites as the Maghtas of Nabi Isa. Visits are by guided tour from the visitor centre, along paths to the springs, the remains of Byzantine churches and the river bank. Several modern churches stand around the site.
