Amman Beach is the public beach on the Jordanian shore of the Dead Sea, run by the Greater Amman Municipality. The Dead Sea lies more than 400 metres below sea level, the lowest point on earth, and its water is so salty that bathers float on the surface. The beach has showers, pools, shade and restaurants, and charges a modest entry fee. It is just south of the resort hotels, about an hour's drive from Amman.
