This shrine at Mahis, west of Amman, is honoured as a maqam of al-Khidr. It has long been visited by Muslims and Christians alike, and it is set beside a spring and a grove of old oak trees. The shrine lies in the town of Mahis on the edge of the hills that fall towards the Jordan Valley, about half an hour from central Amman.
