About Masjid Quba (First Mosque in Islam)

Masjid Quba is the first mosque built in Islam. When Nabi Muhammad ﷺ arrived from Makkah on the Hijrah in Rabi' al-Awwal 1 AH, he stayed for several days at Quba, a village of the Ansar on the southern edge of Madinah, and laid the foundations of this mosque with his own hands, working alongside his Companions. After settling in Madinah he continued to visit Quba regularly, often on Saturdays, riding or walking there to pray, and Muslims have kept up this practice ever since. The mosque has been rebuilt and enlarged many times and is now one of the most visited places in Madinah, about three and a half kilometres south of Masjid al-Nabawi.
