Mulla Shah Badakhshi came from Badakhshan to Lahore, where he became the leading disciple and successor of Mian Mir. He was the spiritual guide of the Mughal prince Dara Shikoh and his sister Jahanara, and he wrote poetry and works on Sufism in Persian. He died in 1661. His shrine stands a short distance west of Mian Mir's, with a mosque built alongside it. The shrine and mosque have been renovated in recent years.
