This tower is one of the kos minars, the milestones the Mughal emperors set up about every kos (roughly three kilometres) along the imperial highway linking Lahore with Delhi and the east. The solid brick pillar stands in a small walled garden in Mughalpura, east of the old city, and has been repaired in recent years. It is one of the few surviving kos minars in Lahore.
