Aitchison College was founded in 1886 as the Punjab Chiefs' College and named after Sir Charles Aitchison, Lieutenant-Governor of the Punjab. It is one of the best-known schools in Pakistan. Its main building is a fine example of Indo-Saracenic architecture with domes, chhatris and arcades, set in about 200 acres of grounds. The campus is not open to the public and is seen from the Mall gate.
