About Grave of Mian Mir

Mian Mir was a Qadiri saint born in Sehwan in Sindh around 1550 who spent most of his life in Lahore, where he died in 1635. He was known for his austere life and his refusal of royal favour, yet the Mughal prince Dara Shikoh and his sister Jahanara became devoted to him, and his leading disciple Mulla Shah Badakhshi later guided them both. The tomb was raised on Dara Shikoh's orders and completed around 1640. It is a domed square building of marble and red sandstone set in a large paved courtyard with a mosque, in the neighbourhood east of the city centre that carries the saint's name. The tombs of Nadira Begum and of Mulla Shah are both a few minutes away.
