This shrine in Kut al-Zayn, a village of the Abu al-Khasib district on the road from Basra to al-Fao, is honoured as the grave of Sayyiduna Abdullah, son of Sayyiduna Aqil ibn Abi Talib, the elder brother of Sayyiduna Ali and cousin of the Prophet ﷺ. The family of Aqil is remembered above all through Muslim ibn Aqil and the sons of Aqil who stood with Imam al-Husayn at Karbala. The grave of his sister, Sayyida Fatima bint Aqil, stands about 200 m away in the same village, among the palm groves along the Shatt al-Arab, and the two shrines are usually visited together. The shrine is open daily from morning until the evening. The shrine of the Companion Zayd ibn Suhan is 4 km to the west, on the same road.
