Shaykh Muhammad Abu al-Jawzi was a respected religious scholar and spiritual figure of Basra, remembered locally for his knowledge, piety and spiritual teaching. Although detailed information about his life has not been preserved, historical Basran sources mention him among the well-known scholars of his time. His shrine is situated between Basra and Abu al-Khasib, near the villages of Farij al-Sakhr and Kut al-Dahi, and is distinguished by its old Ottoman-style domes. He should not be confused with the famous Baghdad scholar Imam Ibn al-Jawzi, as they were different individuals.
