This shrine at Nahr Khuz in Abu al-Khasib is honoured as the grave of the Companion Dhamir, known as Abu al-Hamd and as the son of Halima al-Sa'diyya, the foster-mother of the Prophet ﷺ, and so the Prophet's ﷺ foster-brother. He is remembered as a martyr of the Battle of the Camel in 36 AH, where he fell at about ninety years of age among the companions of Sayyiduna Ali. The shrine is visited by the people of Abu al-Khasib and pilgrims passing on the al-Fao road, and opens in the morning and again in the late afternoon. The Great Mosque of Nahr Khuz is about 650 m away, and the shrines of Zayd ibn Suhan and of the children of Aqil lie further along the road to al-Fao.
