This shrine in the village of Kut al-Zayn, in the Abu al-Khasib district, is honoured as the grave of Sayyida Fatima, daughter of Sayyiduna Aqil ibn Abi Talib, the elder brother of Sayyiduna Ali and cousin of the Prophet ﷺ. Kut al-Zayn lies among the palm groves along the Shatt al-Arab, on the road from Basra to al-Fao. The grave of her brother, Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Aqil, is about 200 m away, and visitors usually come to both, often together with the shrine of the Companion Zayd ibn Suhan 4 km to the west.
