The Careva (Emperor's) Masjid of Foča was dedicated to Sultan Bayezid II and was one of about thirty imperial mosques in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bayezid II is the only sultan after whom two Bosnian mosques are named, the other being in Nevesinje. It stood in the Careva quarter on a rise called Kavala, between the Drina and the Ćehotina, above the old market square. When Evliya Çelebi visited Foča in 1664, he singled it out among the town's mosques as an old and solidly built place of worship. The mosque was destroyed in 1992 with the other mosques of Foča. It is protected as a national monument, and its rebuilding was under way by 2015. Today its minaret again rises over the Careva quarter, a short walk from the Aladža Masjid.
