Sutjeska National Park, founded in 1962, is the oldest and largest national park in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It covers the gorge of the river Sutjeska and the mountains around it, including Maglić, the country's highest peak, Zelengora with its glacial lakes, and the primeval forest of Perućica. The park centre at Tjentište has a visitor point and accommodation. From here roads and trails lead into the mountains, and it is the base for hiking, rafting on the nearby Tara and Drina, and guided visits into Perućica.
