Perućica, within Sutjeska National Park, is one of the last remaining primeval forests in Europe. Beech, fir and spruce trees here reach more than 50 metres in height, and much of the forest has never been cut. At its edge the Skakavac waterfall drops more than 70 metres, and a short path from the road leads to a viewpoint over the falls and the untouched forest below. Entry into the forest itself is allowed only with a park guide, who can be booked through the national park.
