Khan al-Wazir is one of the grandest Ottoman caravanserais of Aleppo, built in 1682 between the Great Umayyad Mosque and the Citadel. Its gateway and façade, in bands of black and white stone with finely carved windows, are among the best known in the old city. Merchants once stored their goods and stayed in the rooms around its courtyard. The khan has been under restoration in recent years.
