Al-Tawhid Mosque is one of the best-known modern mosques of Aleppo. It opened in 1981 on Khalil Hindawi Street, on the right bank of the Quwayq river in the Baghdad Station district, a largely Christian quarter where it stands between two churches. Its design draws on early Abbasid architecture, with a large central dome ringed by four smaller domes and four tall round minarets that are lit in green at night. The prayer hall is spacious and richly carpeted, and a small park lies close by.
