About Masjid Bani Bayadah (First Jumu'ah in Madinah)

Before Nabi Muhammad ﷺ arrived in Madinah, the first Muslims of the city were already gathering for prayer. As'ad ibn Zurarah, one of the earliest of the Ansar to accept Islam, led them in one of the first Friday prayers held in Madinah, at a place called Naqi' al-Khadimat in the lands of Banu Bayadah, with around forty people attending. This mosque marks the area associated with that early gathering, on the southern side of Madinah. It recalls the part played by the Ansar, and by Mus'ab ibn Umayr, the teacher sent by the Prophet ﷺ, in building a community of believers in Madinah before the Hijrah.
