About Masjid al-Sajdah (Prostration of Nabi Muhammad ﷺ)

This mosque, also known as Masjid Abu Dharr, stands north of Masjid al-Nabawi on the road towards Uhud. It is remembered as the place where Nabi Muhammad ﷺ went out one day and fell into a very long prostration of thanks after the angel Jibril brought him glad tidings for those who send blessings upon him. Abd al-Rahman ibn Awf, who had followed him, grew worried that something had happened to him because the prostration lasted so long. The present mosque is a modern building on a busy street, but it keeps the memory of this moment of gratitude. It is a short drive from the Haram and is often included in visits to the sites on the way to Uhud.
