Al-Suq al-Saghir, the Little Market, lay on the western side of Masjid al-Haram in front of Bab Ibrahim, and in the early twentieth century it was the most important market of Makkah for vegetables and meat. Fruit and vegetables came to the city from Taif, from the gardens of Wadi Fatimah and from the farms south of Mount Thawr. The market no longer exists. Its site lies about 180 metres south-west of the Ka'bah, within the enlarged mosque.
