The Seven Pillars of Wisdom is a great rock massif at the entrance to Wadi Rum, its face cut by deep vertical grooves that look like columns. It takes its name from the book T. E. Lawrence wrote about the Arab Revolt. It faces the Wadi Rum visitor centre, where tickets are bought and jeep tours begin, and is the first of the valley's mountains most visitors see.
