This is the great dune of red sand piled against the side of Jabal Umm Ulaydiyya in Wadi Rum, one of the best known in the protected area. Visitors climb the dune on foot for the view over the valley, and many run or slide back down. It is a regular stop on jeep tours, popular in the late afternoon.
