This tall rock pillar stands on the slope above the eastern shore of the Dead Sea, and local tradition knows it as the wife of Nabi Lut. She stayed behind with her people when Nabi Lut left the towns of the plain, and she perished with them. The shores of the Dead Sea are remembered as the land of the people of Lut. The pillar is visible from the Dead Sea road south of Wadi al-Mujib, with a short walk up the hillside for a closer look. The Cave of Nabi Lut lies further south at Ghor al-Safi.
