This shrine near Shawbak is honoured as a maqam of Abu Sulayman al-Darani, the great ascetic and teacher of the early Sufis, whose sayings on sincerity and the heart are widely quoted. His grave is at Darayya near Damascus, so this site honours his memory. It is on the Royal Committee's list. The shrine lies in the highlands near Shawbak, a short drive from Shobak Castle.
